Focus on the Present

Whatever life looks like for you right now, it's probably not what you had envisioned when you set up your plan for the year. Many of your goals have probably been postponed. Some of them may have even been fully cancelled, if they were supposed to happen in the short term.

Change is hard, and uncertainty is even harder. Not knowing when or if you'll be able to get back to your plans can feel so destabilizing.

Mindfulness can help. It's not a cure-all, but it can give you some of the calm, and especially the resilience, you need to make it through a challenging time. There are some great apps on your smartphones that can help with mindfulness. Calm and 10% Happier are just two off the top of the head worth checking out.

Exercise is also something that can help you in stressful times. It allows you to "blow-off steam" and helps quiet the mind. It also has the added benefit of helping to burn off some of those calories that we might be packing on by not leaving the house so much. In most areas, it is OK to leave your home to exercise, so long as you maintain social distance.

Journaling is also a way to help with the "cabin fever" many are experiencing. Just putting down ideas and feelings helps many people cope. If you have not journaled before, we encourage you to check out some videos online and learn more about it.
